Wednesday we had district meeting. Tom was busy arranging transport and the final details of the Young Single Adult Activity to begin on Friday south of Nairobi. It sort of fell to us to complete this when the Branch President had to leave for a funeral.
The LDS Charities couple came to visit on Wednesday. Sis. Udall made a fantastic guacamole and so we had richly enhanced frijitas for dinner. Thursday we left early to revisit the Mbita bore holes. We arrived at the ferry early enough to take pictures of birds. This is a Sacred Ibis.
The shore line is fantastic, but this picture doesn't do it justice. Blue sky, green foleiage, brown/green lake. The boats, the children swimming in the lake. The women washing clothing or collecting water. There's so much life going on!
This is the big ferry. We didn't get this one on this trip. The smaller one sandwiched cars in.
The cars are truly cheek to jowl. We have a smidgen of green paint on our bumper to prove it. And we watched the white car's wheel turn into the blue car's bumper.
So Tom asked me to photo the exit of the white car. It went more smoothly than I thought it would.
This group of leaders stands in front of the water tower being built on school grounds. Water from the wells will be pumped to these tanks.
Then they will gravity feed to the six kiosks -- like the one below--placed aound the 12 villages that will benefit from the water. The water will be turned off at night and locked securely so it won't be wasted.
The village chiefs say that 10,000 people will benefit from this water. What a blessing for them. These projects are funded through donations to the Humanitarian Fund by church members around the world. You can be sure that your donations are being well used for worthwhile projects to serve many people, who are most appreciative.
