Lessons of the Mara 2: No one is Indispensable

Tuesday while we were watching lions, an amazing event was taking place back in the United States. Our latest grandson was being born. Miranda and Dan had been looking forward to this event for years. As we were thinking about, planning, and preparing for our mission, I discussed at length with Heavenly Father my desire to be there for the birth of this long awaited child. But Miranda didn't get pregnant until after we'd put in our missionary papers. I suppose the Lord knew that we were not indispensable.
Little C was born just fine without us. He is flourishing and is well loved. Wonderful family and friends have stepped in to help out and comfort. I keep telling Miranda that she will be fine as a mother. She will know what to do. After all, if mother birds can do it without guidance, she can. She's smarter than a bird!

We were not able to use our computer at the resort. We couldn't call. We couldn't skype. But the wonderful people at the office allowed us to use their computer to email back and forth with the new parents and view pictures of the little guy. Oh happy day!

  1. You were definitely missed! But I loved talking with you and emailing you. And thanks very much for the reassurance - I definitely need it! M
